SOUTHPORT CENTRAL v. HIGH PARK.

Lancashire Evening Post

29/11/1890

On the former’s ground, in the presence of about 3,000 persons. Central kicked off, and a very finely played game ensued. The ground was rather slippery, but, notwithstanding, the men kept fairly well on their feet. In the first half High Park had the best of the game, which at half-time resulted in neither having scored.

Resuming, the visitors were early at work, some good chances, however, being lost by bad shooting. Then the Central forwards got down in a body. Some sharp work took place in the visitors’ goal, and Fairhurst missed his kick. McLaren was enabled to draw first blood, amidst tremendous cheering. Directly afterwards Iddon struck the upright with a fast shot which bounded through.

Result—CENTRAL 2, HIGH PARK 0.
