Albert Brallisford

Full Name: Albert Brallisford
Born: 09/10/1911 (Belle Vue, Hartlepool)
Died: 04/01/1991 (Seaton Carew, Hartlepool)

An out-and-out centre-forward he netted on his one and only appearance for Southport at Hartlepool when turning out as an amateur trialist. He never even came to Southport until later in life.

He also scored Blackpool’s only goal on his League debut for “the seasiders” against Burnley in March 1934. All told he made 14 appearances for Blackpool scoring five goals and then had a successful campaign with Darlington notching 26 goals in 36 games in 1936-37; but he could not reproduce this form with Gillingham the following year.

Wounded on the Njemegen bridge during the second world war and hospitalised for six months, he played little football thereafter. Despite his minimal connection to with the club he did travel down to attend the centenary renion in 1981.
