Tom progressed through the youth team at Southport and made a handful of substitute appearances for the first team. Following his release he had spells with Skelmersdale United and Caernarfon Town before he joined Chorley in 2009. He went on to make over 100 appearances for the Magpies being voted Player of the Year for 2010/11. Suffering a serious injury the following season he never regained his place and he began the 2012/13 season with Northwich Victoria. He left to join Mossley before the end of August 2013.
