“Rest In Pieces: South Liverpool Football Club 1894-1994” is the title of a new book by Hyder Jawad, author of the excellent articles on Southport’s exit from the Football League which appeared in Backpass magazine a number of months ago (and reproduced here with permission).

This is a 320,000-word book about four inter-linked clubs and there are over 170 references to Southport FC in the book, plus exclusive interviews with former Southport players like John McInnes. There is also an interesting passage about the South Liverpool-Southport FA Cup tie from 1919-20, which was originally cancelled before reaching a conclusion at Anfield.
