SOUTHPORT continued their winning run with a hard fought 2-1 win at Warrington.
The popular news that Isaac BuckleyRicketts signing had been confirmed ahead of kick off was further enhanced by him scoring one and getting the assist on the second goal.
It was by no means a straightforward win for Liam Watson’s side and the pacey Warrington forward line proved a good test for the defenders, Southport started brightly with Josh Hmami’s tremendous shot drawing a superb save from the Warrington ‘keeper on 13 minutes and Connor Woods fired just wide when clean through on goal.
Buckley-Ricketts broke the deadlock on 38 minutes with a great solo goal, Dylan
Vassallo was on hand to make sure it went in but all the hard work was already done.
The pace of BuckleyRicketts and Woods was apparent all evening and they proved a real handful.
The second half saw Warrington come into the game much more and it was no surprise when on 58 minutes the Warrington centre forward, Buckley got on the end of a fine cross to finish well. The home side came close again on 66 minutes firing inches wide with Cam
Mason beaten. Southport came back well and once again it was some good work by Buckley-Ricketts who set up A Triallist for a tap in (this was A Triallist who had not previously been seen)
Warrington came very close to getting the draw they probably deserved late on but Southport held firm and the visiting supporters went home happy after seeing another good work out.
