ROB Ramshaw netted a late winner as Spennymoor overcame Southport in an enthralling encounter in front of over 1,300 supporters.

Ramshaw struck 10 minutes from time after two first-half goals from Brad Abbott had sandwiched efforts from Port’s Josh Hmami and Marcus Carver.

Hmami gave Port the lead on 16 minutes after slotting home past Dale Eve after goos work from Carver.

Carver then wasted a golden opportunity to double Port’s lead and when Moors drew level with their first meaningful burst forward – Abbott slotting home Scott McLean’s cross for his first Spennymoor goal.

Abbott then doubled his tally eight minutes later, playing a one-two with John Lufudu before fizzing a low shot into the corner past Cameron Mason.

Moors were seconds away from claiming a half-time lead when Carver superbly slotted into the top corner for 2-2 following a knock on from a free-kick.

The high tempo continued into the second half and it was Moors who prevailed on 80 minutes – Taylor’s cross spotting Ramshaw in the six-yard area, and the Moors’ No.10 converted from close range.

Moors almost wrapped it up with a fourth through Taylor, who has a stellar record against Southport, but his shot stung the post.
