On this Day: April 7th

On this day in 1978 Southport recorded their last Football League victory with a 4-1 Friday night football victory over York City.

Whilst defender John Higham was available again after suspension, player manager Hughie Fisher elected not to play him. Gary Cooper and Pat Hilton both failed late fitness tests but George Jones was declared fit and Paul Birchall returned after a bout of flu.
