On This Day: February 25th

On this day in 1928, Durham City were the visitors to Haig Avenue. With a number of injury concerns the forward line was in doubt right up until kick off.

In 1927/28 Southport switched away from their traditional Red to play in black & white stripes. It was a season of mixed fortune but in ten League games, from mid-January to mid-March (this game included), they only suffered one defeat and eventually finished in eighth place in the League.
