SOUTHPORT v SOUTHPORT WEDNESDAY

The above local clubs met on the sussex-road ground, in the presence of a goodly number of spectators. Play commenced at 3:30 by Briggs kicking off for the “stripes,” the ball being quickly worked down into the Wednesday quarters , where it remained for the greater part of the afternoon. The result at the finish was Southport four goals to “Wednesday” nil, which certainly would have been increased but for the splendid defences of Blundell, Behum and Holden.
